DeepOcean Secures Framework Agreements with Vattenfall for Subsea Cable O&M Services

DeepOcean has recently been awarded framework agreements by Vattenfall for the provision of subsea cable operations and maintenance (O&M) services across Vattenfall’s operational European offshore wind portfolio.

The framework agreements, spanning a four-year period, cover Vattenfall’s offshore wind farms in Denmark, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

Scope of Services

DeepOcean will deliver a range of services under the agreements, including project management, engineering, pre-installation surveys, cable transportation, trenching, installation, jointing, testing, post-installation surveys, and cable recovery and disposal.

The company will leverage its personnel in Norway and the UK for project management and engineering tasks related to call-off orders within the framework agreement.

First Call-Off

DeepOcean has already executed a call-off for an O&M work scope at a European offshore wind farm. The company deployed the subsea vessel Olympic Ares, equipped with cable lay and jet trenching capabilities, for the project and future assignments in the offshore renewables sector.

Vattenfall’s Offshore Wind Portfolio

Vattenfall, along with partners BASF and Allianz, completed the construction of the 1.5 GW Hollandse Kust Zuid, the world’s first subsidy-free offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. The company also operates Vesterhav Nord and Syd offshore wind farms in Denmark.

Recently, Vattenfall made a final investment decision on the Nordlicht project in the German North Sea, with construction set to begin next year. The Nordlicht wind cluster will have a net capacity exceeding 1.6 GW, making Nordlicht 1 the largest offshore wind project in Germany.

With these strategic agreements and upcoming projects, DeepOcean and Vattenfall are poised to further strengthen their collaboration in the offshore wind sector, contributing to the growth of sustainable energy sources in Europe.
