Inyanga Marine Energy Group Takes Over Management of Hybrid Utility Vessel Tor Boreas
In a strategic partnership with Turkey’s Tor Group, Inyanga Marine Energy Group has assumed operational management of the state-of-the-art hybrid utility vessel Tor Boreas. This vessel, built to cater to the needs of the offshore wind sector, represents a significant advancement in marine technology and capabilities.
Tor Boreas boasts impressive specifications, measuring 26.95 meters in length, with a breadth of 11 meters, a depth of 4.35 meters, and a maximum draught of 3.5 meters. Equipped with an offshore crane, a 5-tonne hydraulic A-frame, towing capability, a 25-tonne electric aft winch, and a 17-tonne bollard pull, the vessel is designed to handle a variety of tasks in the offshore wind industry.
Designed by Macduff Ship Design and constructed by Tor Marine in Turkey, Tor Boreas is the result of cutting-edge engineering and craftsmanship. The vessel’s electric propulsion system, integrated with a dynamic positioning system, allows for precise station-keeping during subsea operations, reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption significantly.
Furthermore, Tor Boreas is equipped with a Gyro stabilized anti-roll system, ensuring a stable operating platform that enhances safety and enables operations in challenging conditions. This advanced technology sets Tor Boreas apart as a versatile and efficient asset in the offshore wind sector.
Richard Parkinson, CEO of Inyanga Marine Energy Group, highlighted the vessel’s capabilities, stating, “The vessel has electric propulsion integrated through a dynamic positioning system which enables the vessel to accurately hold station while subsea tasks are performed. This is much more efficient in terms of CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.”
Kemal Torlak, CEO of Tor Group, emphasized the value that Inyanga brings to the partnership, stating, “Inyanga will add significant value to the vessel by supplying a highly experienced crew onboard, providing additional services such as surveying, ROV, and offshore operational management.”
With its focus on innovation, efficiency, and safety, Tor Boreas represents a new standard in utility vessels for the offshore wind industry. The collaboration between Inyanga Marine Energy Group and Tor Group promises to deliver exceptional service and performance in this rapidly evolving sector.
