UAE’s NMDC Energy Wins $1.1bn EPC Contract for Subsea Gas Pipeline in Taiwan
UAE’s NMDC Energy has secured a major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract worth over $1.1bn for a 111 km subsea gas pipeline offshore Taiwan. The contract was awarded by the Taiwan Power Company for the second stage of the Tung-Hsiao renewable power plant project.
The scope of the project includes the design, construction, and installation of a linear subsea pipeline at depths ranging from 10 to 55 meters between Taichung and Tung-Hsiao on Taiwan’s west coast. In addition, the contract involves shore approach works and dredging operations with a volume of around 6 million cubic meters, which will be carried out by NMDC Dredging & Marine.
Yasser Zaghloul, CEO of NMDC Group, expressed the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Taiwan, emphasizing the strategic importance of the market and the potential for renewable energy initiatives. He stated, “Our work in Taiwan is not merely about infrastructure. It represents a commitment to creating sustainable pathways for energy resilience in a region of strategic importance.”
Following its rebranding from the National Petroleum Construction Company, NMDC Energy has been on a global expansion trajectory. In September last year, the company was listed on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange after a successful IPO that was oversubscribed 31.3 times, raising approximately $880m for the company.
