Petrogas E&P Netherlands Achieves New Milestone in Natural Gas Extraction

Petrogas E&P Netherlands, a subsidiary of Oman-based Petrogas E&P, has reached a significant milestone in natural gas extraction off the coast of the Netherlands. The company successfully completed a sidetrack well at the A12 central process platform (CPP) using one of Noble Corporation’s harsh environment jack-up rigs.

This achievement underscores Petrogas’ commitment to innovation and efficiency in the extraction of natural gas. By re-using an existing non-producing well to target infill sand, Petrogas has demonstrated its dedication to maximizing resources and enhancing production.

Petrogas expressed its appreciation for the project team and Noble Corporation, recognizing their expertise and hard work in overcoming challenges to ensure the success of the project. This accomplishment further solidifies Petrogas’ position as a leader in providing domestic gas for the Dutch economy.

Enhancing Production and Future Growth

The new well, drilled using advanced techniques, is expected to significantly enhance production and contribute to future growth. Petrogas’ Dutch portfolio includes A/B gas fields and P/Q oil fields, with different partners involved in each sector.

Partners in the gas fields include TAQA Offshore, Dyas, Dana, and Oranje Nassau Energie Nederland, while partners in the oil fields consist of Aceiro Energy, Dyas, Wintershall, and TAQA Offshore.

Expansion and Operations

Last year, Petrogas commenced production from the B10 platform in the Dutch sector of the North Sea as part of the Stage 2+ project. This project includes the A15 field, which began production in February 2024.

The Noble Resolute harsh environment jack-up rig is currently operating for Petrogas in the Netherlands, with a contract expected to conclude in May 2025. The rig, capable of drilling depths of up to 30,000 ft, is employed in drilling operations at the A15 and B10 fields offshore the Netherlands.

Noble Corporation has implemented sustainable practices by using a fuel load containing 20% sustainable diesel (HVO) to reduce CO2 emissions during drilling operations. Another Noble rig, Noble Resilient, is currently engaged in operations in the United Kingdom for Petrogas.

Overall, Petrogas E&P Netherlands continues to lead in natural gas extraction, leveraging advanced technologies and strategic partnerships to drive growth and sustainability in the energy sector.
