Singaporean Shipbuilder Strategic Marine Signs Contract for Multi-Purpose Survey Vessel

Singaporean shipbuilder Strategic Marine has recently announced the signing of a shipbuilding contract with Odyssey Group for a cutting-edge multi-purpose survey vessel. This vessel is specifically designed for operations offshore Australia, catering to Odyssey Group’s unique operational requirements.

The advanced survey vessel will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including gyro-stabilization for enhanced vessel stability and operational efficiency. Additionally, a moonpool will be included for the launching and recovery of survey equipment, along with a reinforced aft deck to accommodate a potential future A-frame installation. These features are tailored to support marine exploration, research, and survey tasks as needed.

Furthermore, the vessel will be outfitted with a deck crane, an open transom with rollers, and a tugger winch to facilitate buoy servicing. Powered by twin Caterpillar C18 engines and props, as well as twin bow thrusters for improved maneuverability, the vessel is designed to meet the demanding operational requirements of Odyssey Group.

With an overall length (LOA) of 24 meters and Australia Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) notations, the survey vessel is versatile for both passenger transport and offshore operations. Its construction is set to commence immediately, with an expected delivery date in the fourth quarter of 2025.

This new survey vessel will enable Odyssey Group to operate in challenging environments, including offshore and deep-water regions, enhancing their overall operational capabilities. The collaboration between Strategic Marine and Odyssey Group underscores the commitment to innovation and excellence in the maritime industry.

Stay tuned for updates on the construction and deployment of this state-of-the-art survey vessel as it prepares to navigate the waters off the coast of Australia.
