Trendsetter Engineering Deploys Trident 20K Intervention System at Shenandoah Project

Texas-based subsea oil and gas equipment supplier, Trendsetter Engineering, has achieved a significant milestone with the first deployment of its Trident 20,000 psi (20K) intervention system at Beacon Offshore’s Shenandoah project in the Gulf of America.

The Trident 20K intervention system was successfully deployed from Transocean’s Deepwater Atlas drillship for a two-well flowback operation at the deepwater Shenandoah project. Trendsetter efficiently wet-hopped the Trident 20K system between wells, resulting in substantial cost savings and reducing critical path rig time for the client. The system has now been returned to Trendsetter for post-campaign maintenance to ensure readiness for future operations.

According to Trendsetter Engineering, the launch of the first 20K Open Water Intervention Riser System (OWIRS) marks a significant achievement for the industry. This deployment follows the successful delivery of the 20K production manifold and associated surf components by Trendsetter.

The Shenandoah field is situated approximately 230 miles from New Orleans, with water depths reaching up to 5,500 feet. The production from the Shenandoah floating production system (FPS) is expected to commence in June 2025, with an estimated production rate of 120,000 barrels of oil per day once operational.

Shenandoah Phase 2 Development

Beacon Offshore and its partners have greenlit the next phase of development at Shenandoah, known as Shenandoah Phase 2. The planned operations for Shenandoah Phase 2 include the drilling and completion of two additional producing wells, expanding the Shenandoah FPS throughput capacity to 140,000 bopd through debottlenecking activities by early 2026, and installing a subsea booster pump to provide hydraulic support by reducing back pressure on the wells in the dual infield flowline and riser system.

Beacon Offshore anticipates that the activities associated with Shenandoah Phase 2 will be carried out between 2025 and 2028, further solidifying the project’s long-term development and production goals.

Overall, the successful deployment of the Trident 20K intervention system at the Shenandoah project demonstrates Trendsetter Engineering’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in the subsea oil and gas industry. With continued advancements in technology and operational excellence, Trendsetter and its partners are poised to drive further success in the offshore energy sector.
