Vard Delivers New Cable Laying Vessel to NCT Offshore

Vard, a leading shipbuilding company, has successfully delivered a state-of-the-art cable laying vessel to Denmark’s subsea specialist NCT Offshore. The vessel, based on the VARD 9 01 design, has been specifically designed and equipped for subsea cable laying operations, showcasing Vard’s expertise in delivering advanced maritime solutions.

The construction of the 95-meter-long vessel began at Vard Shipyards Romania – Tulcea, and was completed at Vard Langsten in Norway in less than 18 months. The rapid progress from the first steel cut to the vessel’s delivery demonstrates Vard’s efficiency and commitment to meeting project timelines.

Equipped with a complete SeaQ power and control package, the cable laying vessel incorporates innovative technologies such as batteries, switchboards, and shore connection to enhance fuel efficiency and operational flexibility. The vessel also features two main cable tanks, a T-ROV hangar, a walk-to-work system, and accommodations for up to 60 personnel.

Alexander Cortes, Chief Commercial Officer at NCT Offshore, expressed pride in the timely and budget-friendly delivery of the vessel, crediting the collaborative efforts of project teams and suppliers such as Arcim, OilPower, and Argus. The partnership mindset and emphasis on efficiency, transparency, and commitment were instrumental in achieving project success.

Mats Hugo Frostad, Project Manager at Vard, emphasized the company’s dedication to integrating advanced technologies and sustainable solutions into their vessel designs. The delivery of the cable laying vessel exemplifies Vard’s commitment to providing customers with high-performance and efficient maritime solutions.

As the vessel embarks on its maiden voyage towards Denmark for further fitting and testing, NCT Offshore and Vard celebrate the successful collaboration and look forward to the vessel’s future operations. The completion of the cable laying vessel marks another milestone in Vard’s track record of delivering cutting-edge maritime solutions to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
