AtoB@C Shipping Extends Contract with Yara International Until 2033

AtoB@C Shipping, a Swedish subsidiary of Finland-based shipping company ESL Shipping, and Norway’s Yara International, a crop nutrition company and provider of environmental and agricultural solutions, have announced the extension of their existing contract of affreightment (COA) until 2033.

The extended contract solidifies AtoB@C Shipping’s commitment to serving Yara’s factories across Northern Europe using their Green Coaster vessels, which are optimized for a variety of bulk and breakbulk products. These vessels offer a sustainable solution to maritime transport, aligning with the companies’ focus on environmental responsibility.

Last year, AtoB@C Shipping added five new plug-in hybrid coasters to their fleet, with the latest addition being the Maximar, a fifth battery hybrid unit that joined the company in December 2024. These next-gen vessels boast a deadweight of 5,350 dwt and reduce CO2 emissions by 50% compared to the current generation of vessels.

“The contract extension is a testament to long-term demand from the Nordic industry. This collaboration between AtoB@C Shipping and Yara highlights the increasing importance of sustainability in industrial transport partnerships,” commented Frida Rowland, Commercial Director of AtoB@C Shipping.

“AtoB@C Shipping is part of Yara’s Core-Owner group, and we are pleased to extend our cooperation with them to work towards long-term solutions that improve efficiency and reduce emissions in maritime transport,” said Norbert Huys, Senior Manager of Short Sea Chartering at Yara Maritime Logistics.

As part of ESL Shipping, AtoB@C Shipping is dedicated to reducing emission intensity by 30% by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2040. The group collectively operates over 40 vessels with cargo capacities ranging from 4,000 to 25,000 dwt, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability.

ESL Shipping and its subsidiaries are actively involved in initiatives like the Science-Based Targets initiative and have received the Platinum medal in the Ecovadis sustainability rating, further showcasing their dedication to environmentally conscious practices.
